Peoples Climate March
“Climate change is the single biggest thing that humans have ever done on this planet. The only thing that needs to be bigger is our movement to stop it.” ~Bill Mckibben, Leader of 350.org
At Ben & Jerry’s, we believe the science of global warming is settled. The question now is, what are we doing about it?
This September the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, has called for a special summit of world leaders from across the globe to discuss climate change. In this one of a kind climate summit, they will attempt to lay the foundation for a legally binding climate action agreement in anticipation of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris next year. This could be the chance to achieve, for the first time in over 20 years, a universal agreement that may change our climate future and save our planet.
It’s not just the UN taking action this September. People across the globe are rallying together for one of the largest climate rallies in history slated for September 21st. Just days before the UN convenes, the People’s Climate March will take place in New York City bringing together activists, non-profits, citizens and businesses. The goal is to show the world that the time to act on climate change is now if we hope to preserve our globe. Because just like ice cream, if it’s melted, it’s ruined.
