
Training & Development
Our Operations Team helps you work through the challenges typically experienced in a start-up business. We assist and support our franchisees in the following areas, and more:
Site selection - We provide franchisees with a range of services and tools to assist with site identification. In addition, we use a specialist site selection consultant to assist with finding sites. You are welcome to suggest sites to us or use our site selection specialists. There is a fee if the site selection consultant is required. Ultimately, locations must be approved first by Ben & Jerry's through a standard review process and finally you must sign a written approval for your site.
Design & Build - We will manage the design and build of your scoop shop using our team of fantastic (and proven) trades people who we know do good work. You are welcome to remain informed of your scoop shop's design and build progress as well as visit the shop during construction, but you must use our team of approved, tried and tested suppliers. We will control the store build to provide you with a "turn-key" operation.
In-store training at one of our existing scoop shops and then your scoop shop prior to opening. This training will include expert advice on Scoop Shop operations, marketing, merchandising, customer service skills, human resources, financial management techniques and more.
Access to our proprietary information, including training manuals, recipes, operating standards and tools to help you give back to the communities in which you do business.
Marketing and promotional support, including shipments of in-shop materials for system-wide campaigns, artwork for both national and local promotions, and other tools designed to help franchisees build their business in their local markets.
Networking opportunities with fellow-franchisees including Ben & Jerry's special events and regional meetings.
Regular business reviews - as part of your monthly meetings with our field staff you will together perform an analysis of your operational performance for the previous month and year to date.
Mystery Shopper Program and Benchmarking - all scoop shops are subject to quarterly mystery shop reviews. These should not be feared or dreaded but rather viewed as a great tool to motivate your staff and match your performance with other operators in the network.
