We have developed a comprehensive process to assist you with exploring our franchise opportunity and to make sure we are a match made in heaven.
Throughout the process we will provide you with plenty of information and answer all your questions. We will also learn as much as we can about you, your background, your business acumen, and goals to ensure that we are the right fit for each other. Below, we have outlined the specific steps in our discovery process:
An expression of interest email form is received by Ben & Jerry's recruitment team. A representative from Ben & Jerry's will make contact with you to get a better understanding of your background, your future goals, clarify your financial position and outline what Ben and Jerry’s requires in a franchisee. The aim is to find out whether at this early stage it is right for both parties to continue the process. If successful you will then be asked to come in for an initial face to face meeting.
Our recruitment process includes a series of steps. While each person's journey into Ben & Jerry's will vary slightly, the detail below provides a brief overview of each of the key stages:
This is our first face to face meeting. We will provide you with more detailed information about the opportunity and your background /experience. It’s your chance to ask all those questions you have and for both you and Ben & Jerry's to decide if this opportunity is suitable for you.
2nd Meeting – This involves meeting at least one senior member of the Ben and Jerry’s franchise team, reviewing your application form and discussing the operational running of the stores. At this time you will be provided with a copy of our standard franchise agreement and disclosure document as well as business information for you to continue analysis of the opportunity. Prior to the next meeting, it will be your responsibility to take our franchise agreement to your lawyer for review. At this time it is also recommended you review your business plan and financial model with your accountant.
3rd Meeting - The aim of this meeting is to ensure all your queries have been answered and we agree on a plan to move into the final stage of our recruitment process. We will answer any questions that have arisen from the business due diligence.
During this phase you will get a chance to confirm your impression of Ben & Jerry's and get all of your final questions answered.
If you are successful we will ask you to sign an offer to franchise and pay your franchise fee. We will then arrange for your franchise agreement to be issued in its executable form.
The initial training program for you and your store management team will commence and you’re on your way to opening your first store!
Our experienced Operations Team helps you work through the challenges typically experienced in a business. We assist and support our franchisees in the following areas, and more:
- Site selection
- Design & Build
- In-store training
- Access to our proprietary information
- Marketing & Promotional support
- Regular business reviews
- Mystery shopper and benchmarking
During your store opening you’ll be supported by our highly experienced Retail Marketing team to make sure your store is a success from day one! Following this our dedicated Retail Operations team will assist you for a further two weeks on-site to ensure you get off to the best possible start.
We are interested in hearing from potential franchisees who have access to at least $300k + savings and/or accessible equity. There are always variables on sites, fit outs and designs but as a guide a Ben and Jerry’s Scoop shop franchise will typically cost approximately $450k + gst + rental bond + working capital. This includes Initial Franchise fee, fit out, project management, build, equipment and training.
